Honda Motor Co. is recalling Honda Pilot and Acura MDX SUVs from the 2012 model year for a potential fuel-tank leak. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says a vent shut float valve in the gas tank “does not meet design specifications.”
As a result, fuel could leak from the gas tank, which increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
NHTSA says that 8,709 vehicles are included in the recall, which will begin around March 13. Following inspection, Honda dealers will replace the fuel tank assembly for free. Owners who have questions can contact Honda Customer Service at 1-800-999-1009 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
Autoblog notes that while the Pilot and MDX share components with the Honda Accord, Odyssey, Ridgeline and Acura ZDX, none of those vehicles are affected by the recall.
The Pilot and MDX recall follows a different recall for Honda Odyssey minivans from the 2008 and 2009 model years for defective liftgate struts.
Automobile insurance policies have several components, but there are two main parts that help you find the cheapest cars to insure.
One of the two main parts is the liability portion of a policy. It covers the possible costs you would incur if you harm (in an accident) some one's property, or their personal human body or other person's human body, which might be riding in their vehicle. In other words, "your liability"; the word liability, in simple terminology, means "What I owe you because I harmed you or your property."
It is a way we can purchase, relatively inexpensively, the ability to pay for your legal financial responsibility toward members of society, and their property.
Generally, the liability cost for a policy is the same, no matter what type of auto you are driving. Some policies may offer Property Damage Liability discounts based upon safety features on your car. Liability claims cost less when safety features are installed so the companies offer lower premiums for safer cars.
